Face to face has been a really lovely opportunity to reconnect, whilst the ease and familiarity of video calls is also an option when talking to someone at distance or briefly when a visit would take longer to travel to. As long as people acknowledge that a digital meeting is different to in person, they both have great uses in business. In person meetings offer more spontaneity and I often feel are more energised if the participants are all engaged - so I'll continue to use these for workshops, discussions, meetings with new suppliers/contractors/colleagues and activities with high participation and unknown outcomes. The video call is useful for one direction updates as they can have more passive participants, if wanted, and they can be recorded for distribution or archival logging. Useful for workers who have changes to circumstance (if someone has to stay home for childcare, home visits, etc), a video call allows them to participate without being penalised. There are some added benefits using technology when looking at access for people - captions, volume controls, visual aids, recordings, chat threads.

Its an exciting time to be engaging in business and operations and the ability to recruit talent without being tied to location is a big boost to improving diversity and equity for our staff and the overall success of the business. I think we will remain flexible and adaptable to the needs of departments and staff, rather than as a whole company but we're yet to see any formal restrictions or rules shared.
