My morning routine starts with waking up to a meditation with Rupert Spira, which can take more than an hour, so the alarm goes off around 5 a.m. Once I'm 'awake' (in both senses of the word!) I go down to weigh myself, feed the cat and take a cup of coffee upstairs, where the cat has a fresh bowl of water beside my bed, and write my 750 word exercises. Then I start to go over emails and WhatsApp messages and muse on things that grab my attention for a while before shaking off the night with a shower and getting down to some focussed writing. If I'm working for a client that day, I'm at my desk by 7.30 with more coffee and a deadline to achieve a milestone within four hours. I find a good lengthy lunch break very refreshing and that prepares me for research or, if on a contract, more writing in the afternoons. Typically the working day stops around 3 or 4 pm and out comes the needlework, or knitting, or drawing, or experimental cookery. Then I have the dilemma of which films to watch, which books to read and whether or not to challenge myself with a round of sudoku. Yes, i should be fitting in more exercise and perhaps taking more of a structured approach to marketing and sales. I entirely agree. Which is why this year my intentions are a little more aligned to re-growing the business. Wish me luck!
Thanks, Alastair - not in the mornings, but definitely sometimes at night. I start listening and find it so relaxing I've fallen asleep! But in recent weeks I've been attending more live meditation sessions with Rupert online, and have a five day online retreat with him booked for later this month. The work is coming more and more into focus for me and the benefits are just getting better and better. x
Very useful - thanks Alastair. Will also try a different approach to making the coffee!
Thanks Ewan - definately don't boil that coffee :)
Thanks, Alastair - found this super insightful - thanks for the inspiration 🙌
Thanks James, loving yours too bud :)

It sounds like you have a wonderful routine if you ask me Vanessa :) Out of interest do you do the meditation when you're dozing?
